In today’s modern society, fashion is interpreted in many ways. The way that we ware our clothes is based on many factors; our culture, our environment, as well as our interests. To look more fashionable, one might look at other’s styles to gain inspiration for a new look! With that in mind, here are some tips and tricks from Korean fashion!
1) Tuck in your shirt.
In Korean society, it’s more common to see people tucking their shirt. This symbolizes wealth and cleanliness. It also gives off the approach that you’re not the lazy type.
There are many styles when it comes to tucking a shirt. There’s the basic clean tuck that most professionals use, there’s the half-tuck where the first half is tucked while the other is let loose, and there’s the more popular over tuck. How I would describe the over tuck is like tucking an oversized shirt. Not so big that it looks like fat hanging from your waste, but rather it is a little sliver of room for mobility.
2) Ware oversized clothing.
It may sound weird at first but in some sense, wearing oversized clothes helps bring out the aesthetic you’re looking for. For those who are looking for a more street, balling, hip-hop vibe, wearing oversized shirts and pants give out that message. In Korea, when we see people wearing more tight and more fit clothing, we get more of a mature vibe.
3) Ware clothing with any foreign language on it.
Like the stereotype of Americans wearing clothing with Chinese or Japanese on it, we Koreans do it with English.
We Koreans view America in a higher light (well not me as much because I live in America). Most Korean entertainment industries and businesses apply Western ideas into their products. This can be seen with English words being in K-pop songs or English being branded on everything.
4) Ware noticeable shoes.
In Korea, we like to ware noticeable shoes. This can go from waring Timberlands to Converse to Nike. The more noticeable the better.
5) Ware some type of accessory holder.
This can go from a backpack, tote bag, and a hip-pack. Not only they can help make a look stand out more, but they’re also useful when caring for your essentials.
In Korea, mostly in the city, people go to lots of places. Form school to an afterschool study station or from work to shopping, they need to put their essentials somewhere. Some of these bags have become such a norm in Korea, thus people styled them. Form a Patagonia tote to a Supreme hip-pack, these bags have exploded in Korean Street Fashion.
6) Layer yourself.
In Korea, especially in the wintertime, it’s very common for people to layer up with coats and jackets. This can be seen in Korean street fashion.
The most popular way of layering is wearing a sweatshirt and wearing a long coat over that.
To make that more fashionable, ware an overcoat with a turtleneck with some jeans with some Chelsea boots.
Hope you liked the ideas! Stay Pashionable.
